CPZ - Controlled Parking Zone

Many of the roads in the Chase Residents Association area have been flagged by Croydon Council as high parking stress areas where controlled parking could be justified if residents are in favour. 'The best way of bringing this to the Council's attention would be a petition, as these are reported to the Traffic Management Cabinet Committee and the recommendation would be that we will consult residents subject to funding and the present CPZ programme.'

'The process for considering residents' parking schemes includes feasibility surveys, agreement from the Traffic Management Cabinet Committee, informal consultation of local residents to determine support and a Public Notice stage giving members of the public the opportunity to comment or object to the proposals. Relevant objections can alter, delay or even prevent the proposals being introduced. There are no guarantees that schemes can be introduced even if it appears that many residents favour controls.'

The streets within Chase have been designated high stress areas and Council funds have been allocated within this years' budget for a CPZ consultation. If you want it, you will need to vote for it

Thanks to a large number of objections from residents, Croydon Council's plans to increase our CPZ operating hours to 8am-12 midnight everyday has been rejected by the Planning Committee - big thanks to everyone who supported our objection !

Please let us know your thoughts on parking & traffic in the area:

1. Are there issues with parking locally ?

2. How should they be solved - is extending the area of the CPZ the answer ?

3. What changes would you like to see - road calming measures ?
